How Yellow Balau weathers & finishing

Left untreated, Yellow Balau silvers to an attractive grey, with no loss of durability. To keep its golden-brown colour, use a decking oil (we recommend Osmo 006 Bangkirai, or Osmo 016 Bangkirai Dark for a deeper tone). Let the boards season after installation and remove mill glaze first so the oil penetrates, then apply in spring and again in autumn in high-sun areas. Don't oil over greyed timber , clean it back first with Net-Trol.

Sizes, profiles & fixing

We stock Yellow Balau in a wide range of sizes (19×90mm up to 26×185mm) in smooth and reeded profiles, plus matching components (baserails, handrails, balustrade, infill) for a complete deck. As a dense hardwood it must be pre-drilled, we recommend the Spax step drill with stainless steel decking screws, or Deckwise hidden fixings for a clean, fixing-free surface. Build on a well-drained, ventilated sub-frame.
