What is European Larch?

European Larch (botanical name being Larix Decidua) is a premium softwood known for its durability, distinctive grain pattern, and naturally warm colouration. Grown in cooler European climates such as Germany (which is where ours is sourced) this species has adapted to withstand harsh environments – making it a reliable material for external applications like cladding, fencing, and any landscaping projects!

While Siberian Larch is known for its slow-grown density and pale tones, European Larch offers a like-for-like alternative with a creamy hue, rich grain and faster growth, making it a more sustainable choice. It also machines and finishes beautifully, taking well to oils and UV protectors, or leaving it to naturally weather to a silvery-grey patina over time.

Why Choose European Larch Cladding?

Cladding isn’t just about protection – it’s a statement. European Larch delivers both function and form in one solid package. Key benefits include:

• High natural resistance to decay and insect attack, without chemical treatment
• Attractive grain and colour that enhances modern and traditional designs
• Excellent dimensional stability, which reduces movement and warping
• Sustainable forestry credentials. Our stock is mainly PEFC certified, occasionally FSC certified, harvested from responsibly managed European forests

Whether you’re cladding a home extension, a garden room, or a commercial building, European Larch offers a natural, striking finish that holds its own in all seasons.
