Textrol HES

Textrol HES is a single coat saturating oil, developed to penetrate deep into softwoods and European hardwoods. Textrol HES has enhanced UV protection and a high solids content that protects the wood against the vagaries of the weather and UV rays. Having a luxurious matt-sheen finish Textrol HES enhances the grain and natural beauty of the wood.

Restrictions

Not suitable for exotic hardwoods, thermally heated, oil impregnated wood.

Coverage

12m2 per litre; actual coverage will vary depending on application method, type, texture, age and porosity of the wood.

Application

When using with New Cedar we recommend

Dry timber before installation

Sand seen face with 60 - 80 grit paper in the direction of the grain ideally with a orbital sander to remove 'millglaze' (millglaze is the compacted fibres on the surface caused by the machining process, millglaze needs to removed otherwise the oil wont penetrate correctly)

remove dust with methylated spirits using a lint free cloth

Apply single coat Textrol HES with brush or roller in the direction of the grain making sure board is saturated

after 15 - 30 minutes brush out excess oil to improve penetration and give a uniform finish

Note: Do not create a film. Textrol HES is not a surface coating, its place is in the wood not on the surface. No need to apply to reverse of the board. For directions on surface preparation please refer to the technical sheet.

Maintenance

Maintenance applications may be required approximately once every 2 years depending on wood species, age of wood at time of initial application e.g. new or weathered and colour used.

Textrol HES will gradually lighten over time due to exposure to the sun and UV rays.

Inspect finish bi-annually. Maintenance is due when the finish has severely faded or the wood takes on a weathered grey appearance. Surfaces with harsh exposure to the sun, weather and foot traffic will show wear more quickly than other areas. Areas retaining good colour do not need re-treating.
