Why Thermo Ayous?

For this project, we suggested The Home Improvements Channel select Thermo Ayous, a thermally modified hardwood, due to its combination of aesthetics, durability, and environmental sustainability. Thermo Ayous undergoes a high-temperature treatment process that enhances its natural properties, making it more resistant to weather, rot, and insect damage—ideal for outdoor projects like garden rooms, which both The Home Improvements Channel and Mat Armstrong really liked the sound of!

The Home Improvements Channel opted for the 20 x 95mm Vertical Channel Groove ST65.TA, a brand-new profile we recently added to our collection to offer a narrow alternative for the popular Channel Groove fit. This specific profile allows for an elegant and flawless look while maintaining the material’s durability. The channel groove design also makes installation more efficient, providing a tight fit that enhances the weatherproofing and insulation of the garden room. The boards interlock securely, reducing gaps and potential movement overtime, providing a smooth finish and a distinctive shadow line effect that adds depth and texture to the wall.

Technical Benefits of Thermo Ayous:

Enhanced Stability: Thermo Ayous is less prone to warping and shrinking, which is crucial for outdoor structures exposed to varying temperatures and humidity.

Eco-Friendly: The thermal modification process is chemical-free, meaning the cladding retains its natural properties without the need for harmful preservatives.

Sleek Appearance: Its smooth, knot and practically defect-free surface gives it a contemporary and refined look, perfect for modern builds like Mat Armstrong’s garden room.

Durability: With the thermal treatment, the lifespan of Thermo Ayous increases significantly, offering long-term value and low maintenance for outdoor applications.

The Garden Room Build:

The Home Improvements Channel have documented every stage of the garden room’s construction so far (which can be found across all their social media platforms), showing the ease of working with Thermo Ayous cladding. They highlighted the benefits of the cladding, demonstrating how easy the material is to install, while providing both structural integrity and a sleek, finished look.

To complete their project, they also required a supply of our matching, preformed Thermo Ayous 45 x 45mm L Section corners, so they could seamlessly finish the corners and window frames of the garden room.

For Mat Armstrong, known for his car restoration projects, the garden room will serve as a personal space that’s as practical as it is visually appealing. But the project is yet to be complete, so stay tuned on The Home Improvements Channel’s YouTube channel to keep up with the build. The combination of Thermo Ayous’ durability and stylish finish made it the perfect choice for a space that will endure the elements while maintaining a high-end look.

Collaborating with The Home Improvements Channel on this project was an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the versatility and quality of our Thermo Ayous cladding and introduce the new profile. The use of the product in Mat Armstrong’s garden room is a prime example of how our sustainable materials can be both functional and beautiful in home improvement projects.
