Six Reasons Why You Should Buy Yellow Balau Decking

Let’s talk about Yellow Balau – an affordable, quality hardwood decking material with the ability to transform any garden. Today, we want to take a closer look into the benefits of purchasing Yellow Balau over other decking materials, and discuss some of the top advantages in more detail than ever before.

Firstly, it’s a very durable timber

Durability is a widely known benefit of Yellow Balau. The natural oils of Yellow Balau makes the wood impervious to harmful things like decay, fungi and unwanted pests. But what really gives the timber its hardwearing properties is how incredibly dense it is. It’s this high-density rating of 980 kg/m3 that makes it a heavy-duty timber, able to carry heavy loads while remaining resistant to warping.

A long lifespan? Check!

Off the back of its high durability, Yellow Balau has an extended lifespan of around 25 – 50 years. This kind of life expectancy is exceptional for an external wood. Of course, there are things you can do yourself to protect its longevity as much as possible, either a regular clean or occasional top up of treatment should do the trick. But which maintenance route you decide to take is entirely up to you! It’s all about preference, but if maintaining your Yellow Balau decking is something you’re eager to learn more about, have a read through our How To Guides which we hope will tell you everything you need to know.

It’s NOT slippery

There’s a lot of talk online about timber decking becoming slippery when it gets wet, and Yellow Balau has also suffered at the hands of this rumour. To clear things up for you, Yellow Balau is not a slippery surface when its wet, just like all other hardwood deckings. But don’t just take our word for it, it’s the science that you should trust. The close compact fibres in all hardwoods mean that minimal amount of moisture is absorbed resulting in a rapidly dried surface – it’s simple! It’s also commonly believed that decking boards with conventional grooves like castle or reeded profiles provide an improved, anti-slip grip, and while we do stock these profiles in Yellow Balau, you shouldn’t worry about slipperiness with the smooth profile as this surface actually avoids the collection of dirt which can offer better grip.

It’s sustainably sourced

On top of all its excellent properties, buying Yellow Balau from us actually helps protect the environment. Amongst our stock, you’ll find there’s mention of both the SVLK Certification and the FSC Certification. There’s a selection of our Yellow Balau stock that’s FSC Certified which basically ensures to you (the buyer) that our wood has been harvested from responsibly managed forests. The rest of our stock has the SVLK Certificate which means the exact same thing, but this is the verification required by Indonesian law which is where all our Yellow Balau is sourced from. Better yet, Yellow Balau is an entirely renewable resource that can be naturally replenished.

The aesthetic appeal is unbeatable

Yellow Balau offers a really warm, golden hue that complements almost anything around it. This distinct summer hue is similar to that of Western Red Cedar, so when the two timbers are paired together in larger projects, it’s generally seen as match made in heaven. As a natural wood, it occasionally has some lighter and some darker boards, and it’s this characteristic that gives a real natural feel to your decking unlike alternative options such as composite decking.

Last, but definitely not least, it’s budget-friendly!

Amongst all hardwood deckings, nothing beats the competitive pricing of Yellow Balau. It’s one of them most affordable, quality hardwood decking products in the market and definitely a cost-effective solution for those larger projects.

And there you have it – the six top reasons (in our opinion) why you should purchase Yellow Balau decking. If all your boxes are now ticked for what you’re looking for in a decking, then all that’s left to do now is browse our Yellow Balau collection.

Have fun shopping!
