Business As Usual.....
We’re now into the first week of our second lockdown – and I must admit to feeling very lucky to live in Whitstable and able to go out for invigorating walks to take in the fresh air and stunning coastal views.
As I stroll along, I must admit to reflecting on how proud I am that Southgate Timber’s core family values have stayed with us ever since my father set the company up in 1984. This means that the health and well-being of our staff and customers are our main focus as we continue to serve you in the best ways possible during the pandemic.
So, back at the yard, it’s business as usual! – Well, as far as is possible with regards to hygiene, sanitation routines and social distancing. The main difference is that our physical showroom is closed – but help is at hand with our online Gallery for ideas and inspiration.
We are obviously following all Public Health Guidelines, but the team have risen further to the challenge and are busy developing our new Click and Collect area. When you order online, you can pre-book your collection time so that when you visit us, all your wood is pre-picked, pre-paid and prepared for you to take home. Apart from collecting your paperwork and any shop items from the office, you’ll have next to no contact with our team because everything will be ready for you. All you have to do is turn up and wear a mask at all times.
Apologies in advance for sounding like a bossy parent, but do make sure you go to the toilet BEFORE you get to us. Ours will remain closed to customers for the time being – so please don’t say you haven’t been warned!!!
The next phase will be to mark out parking bays, new signage and some pedestrian walkways outside.
As usual, we’ve got lots of great offers during November – especially on Western Red Cedar – which is great for cladding and fencing. It has high levels of durability for a softwood and, due to the natural oils within, requires little to no maintenance.
This Canadian Western Red Cedar 18x38 PAR (planned all round) was installed vertically with the thin edge facing out to achieve this striking 3D effect fencing.
Stay safe…and don’t forget, “Hands. Face. Space.”!
